Franklin Paint-Out

Artists hard at work!

This past weekend, Jon Houglum www.houglumfineart.com organized a very well attended paint-out in Franklin, NC.  The weather was absolutely spectacular, as you can see in this photo, and we all gathered around the old Penland Farm, where there was plenty to paint!

Here is a vista near the farm that I just couldn't resist.  Late afternoon light with the first touches of Autumn was more than enough to inspire.

WNCPAP - Paint-Out

Hickory Nut Gap Farm - Fairview, NC

A group of members from the Western North Carolina Plein Air Painters met for a one-day paint-out on September 25th at the beautiful Hickory Nut Gap Farm, just south of Asheville, NC.

Here is Linda Cheek working on her second painting of the day.  Other attending members included Peggy Taylor, Colleen Webster and yours truly.  With an opening on Saturday, December 4th at 16 Patton Fine Art Gallery in Asheville, WNCPAP will be featured in an exhibition promoting plein air painting.  The exhibition will run through January 8, 2011.  For more information, visit the WNCPAP website:  http://www.wncpap.com/

PAP-SE Workshop and Forum

The Plein Air Painters of the Southeast just held a workshop and forum near Boone, NC at the beautiful equestrian retreat of Leatherwood Mountains. PAP-SE generously opened the event to include fellow artists from all over the area, and with many attending, we truly had a wonderful time. It was indeed a pleasure and honor to work alongside so many talented colleagues.
