I just returned from a wonderful two week painting expedition on St. Simons Island, one of the barrier islands on the coast of Georgia. Here's a plein-air painting of the road to East Beach as it crosses the marsh. This time of year, the marshes and water take on the jewel tones of gold and sapphire. This painting was done on the banks of the river that borders the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. It was a glorious morning, and what intrigued me was the effect of the warm morning light surrounded by the coolness of the early day. EXHIBITION AT 16 PATTON FINE ART GALLERY

Here is a recent plein-air painting done on the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway in Western North Carolina. The area is about 40 miles west of Asheville, and is known as Black Balsam. It was a stormy and dramatic day, which made this painting all the more exhilarating to produce. It will be part of the upcoming exhibition at 16 Patton Gallery.

I just returned from a wonderful painting trip to Saint Simons Island and the Golden Isles of Georgia. This little painting is of a meadow just off East Beach on Saint Simons. I was astonished to see it with such a profusion of flowers. I'll be heading back to the Georgia Coast in autumn where I'll be doing a one-man show at The Left Bank Art Gallery.
